Why Brisbane homeowners choose Brisbane Concreting Pro

Concrete is hard to fix once it has set, so we get the preparation right and keep you informed from quote to pour.

Preparation first

Compacted base, correct reinforcement and falls away from the house, so the slab lasts and water drains.

Clear quotes

Area, thickness, finish and what is included, written down before work starts.

Finishes that suit

Broom, plain, coloured or exposed aggregate, with samples and photos to help you choose.

Clean site

Formwork, spoil and washout handled properly, and the site left tidy.

Concrete built for Brisbane ground and weather

Much of Brisbane sits on reactive clay that swells when wet and shrinks when dry. That movement cracks concrete that has been poured on a poor base or without enough reinforcement and control joints. Heavy summer storms also mean every driveway and path needs good falls and drainage so water runs away from the house.

That is why we spend most of our effort before the truck arrives: excavating to the right depth, compacting a road base, setting steel mesh on bar chairs, and planning control joints and falls.

Signs your concrete needs replacing

  • Wide cracks or sections that have lifted or sunk
  • Trip hazards on paths and driveways
  • Water pooling against the house or garage
  • Crumbling surface or exposed reinforcement
  • Tree roots lifting slabs

Common concreting questions

How long before I can drive on a new driveway?

You can usually walk on new concrete after a day or so and drive a car on it after about 7 days. Concrete keeps gaining strength for weeks, so avoid heavy vehicles for longer.

Will my new concrete crack?

All concrete can develop fine cracks. Good preparation, reinforcement and control joints keep cracking to the joints where it is planned and stop wide, uneven cracks.

What is exposed aggregate?

It is concrete where the top layer of cement is washed off during finishing to show the stones in the mix. It is hard wearing, non slip and hides marks well.

Do I need council approval for a driveway crossover?

In Brisbane, work on the footpath crossover from the kerb to your boundary usually needs a council permit. We can explain what applies to your property.
